Disney Rehires James Gunn To Direct Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

They’re finally coming back to their senses.

Well, it looks like Disney is finally coming to their senses. After causing a s–t storm after firing James Gunn from directing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Disney looks like they’ve now changed their minds. Gunn (who directed the Guardians films) was fired in July last year after some old controversial tweets of his resurfaced. Many fans and movie people came to the director’s defense including the cast of the Guardians themselves.

Marvel has attained that they would be using Gunn’s script for the third film but a director was still pretty hard to come by with Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi considering the film to be Gunn’s baby and that he wouldn’t wanna touch it because of that. Gunn seemed to doing fine as he found a place for himself in DC being tasked to take on the next Suicide Squad film. Now, the filmmaker is coming home as Disney has apparently rehired him to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

According to Deadline, Gunn has been rehired by Disney to take on Guardians 3. The decision to do so was actually made months ago following conversations with Disney studio leadership and the team at Marvel Studios. After all that s–t, it’s hard to actually believe that Disney would just change their minds but they did it seems and it looks like it had something to do with Walt Disney chairman Alan Horn. After he was fired, Horn met with Gunn multiple times to discuss the situation. Horn was apparently persuaded by his apology along with how he handled the situation after and decided to reinstate the filmmaker.

James GunnThis great news. Gunn coming on board was the best thing to happen to Marvel Studios and his firing was just complete bulls–t. Both Guardians films were awesome and we can expect a solid trilogy on the way now. If he knocks this one out of the park, we may get the best trilogy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’ll probably be some time till we see Guardians 3 cause the dude is working on Suicide Squad but yeah… at least he’s back.
