Despite some efforts from trolls to take down Captain Marvel, the film is getting some great reviews from critics. The film saw some negative opinions from some audience members on Rotten Tomatoes before the film was even out with its ‘Want to See’ score taking a significant hit. This was due to some words star Brie Larson uttered in regards to ‘white males’ but it had nothing to do with the quality of the film itself. Now the site is giving the Marvel film the stamp of approval with ‘Certified Fresh’ score.
A film gets a ‘Fresh’ score on RT when it gets a score of 60% and above but a ‘Certified Fresh’ is given to films with a score of 75% and above. Captain Marvel gets the latter as the Brie Larson led film has a score of 84% on Rotten Tomatoes with the consensus being:
“Packed with action, humor, and visual thrills, Captain Marvel introduces the MCU’s latest hero with an origin story that makes effective use of the franchise’s signature formula.”
At the time of writing, 138 reviews were counted so more will be on the way. There’s a chance it could change but with how things are going, it looks like ‘Certified Fresh’ is where the film is going to stand. Yep, Carol Danvers seems to be resonating well with critics but it looks like some audiences are still not on board as the film’s IMDb score isn’t looking good with a 5.5/10.
Those are probably trolls and it will probably go higher later on but then again, some people are really not on board with this film. Despite this, it’s safe to say that Captain Marvel is going to be a mainstay in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and we’ll be seeing her again in action in Avengers: Endgame.
