Rush Hour 4 In Development Says Chris Tucker

Hope they get a new director.

Oh Rush Hour… The action comedy series which saw Jackie Chan whopping a– while being funny and Chris Tucker just being funny. It was by no means Edgar Wright’s Cornetto Trilogy but it was still fun in its own right. The third entry in the series was released in 2007 and it was met with extremely negative reviews but earned an alright amount of cash at the box-office. A decade passed and that seemed to be it for the series or so we thought cause now, Rush Hour 4 is in the works.

Chris Tucker who played Detective James Carter revealed that the fourth film is in development at Warner Bros. New Line. He told the Winging It podcast:

“We’re working on a few things on the script right now, so we’re trying to get into production. But we’re working on it and trying to get it going, Jackie Chan wants to do it, I want to do it, [the] studio wants to do it, so we’re trying to get it together.”

Chris Tucker and Jackie ChanSpeaking on ESPN’s The Plug podcast, Tucker revealed that he and Chan (who plays Inspector Lee) are getting ready to take on Rush Hour 4 and it seems like this entry is going to be the biggest in the series. He said:

“It’s happening. This is gonna be the rush of all rushes. Jackie is ready and we want to do this so that people don’t ever forget it,”

Can’t wait Tucker but one big question needs to be answered, will Brett Ratner be returning to direct the fourth film? Warner Bros and Ratner aren’t exactly close anymore since Ratner was faced with sexual misconduct allegations so don’t expect him to be back. With Tucker and Chan back to rush the hours, the studio better pick a director who can actually deliver something better than the previous films. More importantly, they best pick a director who isn’t a creep (alleged).
