After much speculation, it looks like the role of Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves’ The Batman may not be going to Ben Affleck after all. The actor has played the Caped Crusader in the DCEU’s Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League and Suicide Squad, three films that were not exactly great. However, one can argue that Affleck’s role as Bruce Wayne was pretty good but despite this, it was really starting to seem like Affleck was gonna be out.
Matt Reeves’ The Batman got some updates recently revealing that casting for the upcoming film will begin soon and it looks like one role that needs to be secured is Bruce Wayne AKA Batman because Ben Affleck is reportedly not going to return to the role according to Deadline. Revealing that The Batman will be seeing a release on June 25, 2021, Deadline reports that the film will be focusing on a younger Wayne.
Take into account that this hasn’t been confirmed by Warner Bros. and after that whole Henry Cavill fiasco last year, maybe we shouldn’t take this news as fact just yet. Or so I thought until Affleck himself took to Twitter to be super vague about it. Check out the post below:
Excited for #TheBatman in Summer 2021 and to see @MattReevesLA vision come to life. https://t.co/GNgyJroMIO

That means he’s out right? Like, why else would he not confirm or deny anything? To be honest, it really does seem like Affleck is leaving the role and this tweet seems to be confirming it along with providing some support for the film. It’s probably best to hear some official word from Warner Bros. but at this point, it’s pretty telling that another actor will be taking on the iconic role of the Batman.
