The state of the Star Wars franchise, although moving forward is kind of in an awkward position right now thanks to its recent releases. Of course, I’m talking about Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Solo: A Star Wars Story which saw some polarizing reception. The Last Jedi saw some love from critics along with being a box-office success but some fans had a lot of problems with it whereas Solo was just meh and also a box-office disappointment. You gotta wonder where Episode IX would go with The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams back but it seems like even its stars wanna keep things on the down low.
While attending the Gotham Independent Film Awards, Adam Driver who plays Kylo Ren in the Star Wars films was asked about the upcoming Episode IX. Before the journalist from Variety could even finish her question, Driver smiled shook his head and said, “I’m not touching that one” as he walked away.

Yeah, I see where you’re coming from Adam cause the words you say must be constructed carefully when it comes to Star Wars cause its fans are well… you know. We’re not completely in the dark for Episode IX however as we know that there will be a jungle set somewhere in the film perhaps reminiscent of Return of the Jedi along with the return of Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian.
One could say they’re going back-to-basics or one could even say they’re gonna rehash Return of the Jedi much like how The Force Awakens was accused of doing so in regards to the original Star Wars. Perhaps it’s just best they go the MCU route and keep things quiet cause Episode IX is still Star Wars and there’s always a ton of hope for Star Wars.
