Henry Cavill seems to be the man of the hour today following reports of him leaving his role as Superman in the DC Extended Universe. Cavill took on the role of Superman in Man of Steel, kick-starting the DCEU and returned for Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice along with Justice League. So when this report surfaced, this was pretty big but in the end he’s staying put after all.
Cavill’s agent, Dany Garcia took to Twitter to refute The Hollywood Reporter‘s claims that Cavill will be leaving the DCEU, affirming us that the “cape is still in his closet”. She also said that Warner Bros. will be providing a statement pretty soon and lo and behold we have an official statement from Warner Bros. It reads:
“While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we’ve always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged.”
Although, it does refute earlier reports pertaining to Cavill’s departure, it still opens up a lot of questions regarding Superman films and truth be told, it doesn’t really give us a solid answer. The reports of him leaving pointed to contract negotiations so that could honestly be something that is still being worked out.
