Forbes released their list of the 10 highest paid actors of the year and it looks like the man who every man wants to be takes the top spot. No, it’s not Dwayne “The John” Rockson, I mean Dwayne Johnson but it’s George Clooney. This may seem like a surprise to some of you cause Clooney hasn’t been in a hit film for a while now and it really is a wonder as to why he’s on the top spot. Well, it’s not because of a movie I can tell you that.
We know that Clooney is a rich f–king actor but the bulk of this accomplishment came from Tequila. Forbes reports that Clooney earned $239 million in pretax earnings between June 1, 2017 to June 1, 2018 and the sales of his Casamigos Tequila company to British liquor company Diageo has a lot to do with that.
Diageo announced that it would purchase Casamigos Tequila for $700 million up front with the potential for an extra $300 million to be paid over the next decade. Clooney has equal stakes in the company together with its co-founders, Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman. So Clooney got $233 million pretax from Casamigos and $6 million from “endorsements and older movies”.
So yeah, invest in liquor kids, it’s good for you. It is strange that this is the case however since you’d honestly expect the blockbuster boys like The Rock or Robert Downey Jr. to take the cake but in the end, it’s Danny Ocean. The man hasn’t starred in anything since 2016’s Money Monster so this is something that could bring some eyes back to him. Well, I don’t think he really cares cause he’s George f–king Clooney but maybe the attention would get him back in a movie.
