James Gunn may be having a ton of problems with Disney after being fired from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 but the director may not necessarily be out of a job yet. Although chances of Gunn returning to direct the film seem to diminishing day by day, it looks like we would be getting a James Gunn film sooner than expected. Guess what? It’s from Sony and it seems to point to a horror film that may be an adaptation of a beloved Sony exclusive.
Gunn was supposed to make a surprise film announcement at Sony’s Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con but amidst Gunn’s fiasco with the tweets, it was eventually pulled. It was speculated for some time that Gunn was working on an adaptation of Japanese Manga, Berserk or From Software’s acclaimed video game, Bloodborne. However, this was only speculation and we never got a chance to see a confirmation of this but it does seem like a James Gunn horror film is going to see the light of day very soon.
Screen Rant reports that Sony Pictures released a schedule revealing that an Untitled James Gunn Horror film will be hitting theaters on November 30. It may seem weird that Gunn managed to make a film without anyone knowing and not only that, it’s done. Perhaps, this sounds way too good to be true but Screen Rant reached out to Sony Pictures and yeah, it’s confirmed that Gunn’s film is scheduled to be released in November.
Not sure if this whole Gunn-Disney debacle is helping Sony or making things worse cause it does seem like their choosing to keep their marketing on the low for some reason. November isn’t that far off so it’s pretty weird that we haven’t gotten word of it yet but if it is Bloodborne… FUCK YEAH! but at the same time, it’s best to keep your expectations of that being the case pretty low since that project would have been announced way before Gunn got fired.
Bloodborne is quite possibly the Play-Station 4’s best title and it really is strange that we’ve never heard of developments for it. Perhaps the Berserk manga seems more likely but all we know that it’s a James Gunn horror film.
