Forget about Nathan Fillion taking on Sony’s Uncharted project. The actor’s interest currently lies in another character and that’s DC’s Booster Gold.
Since the time Sony announced its plans to turn its successful action-adventure Uncharted franchise into a feature film back in 2010, Firefly actor Nathan Fillion has been constantly linked to playing the role of Nathan Drake in the potential Uncharted movie. The actor not only shares the same first name but also resembles the video game hero physically.
Fillion recently collaborated with director Allan Ungar to make an independently financed fan film for the best-selling video game franchise Uncharted. Earlier this week, the duo uploaded the 15-minute live-action fan film on YouTube. The fan film, which features Fillion in the role of the adventurer, has already garnered more than two million views.
But the film studio confirmed last year that it has officially roped in Tom Holland to play a young Nathan Drake in the Uncharted film and Shawn Levy as the director. So, there’s no chance that fans will be able to see Fillion playing Nathan Drake on the big screen. However, there’s another DC Comics superhero role that Firefly actor might be interested in playing which is that of Booster Gold.
Screen Rant recently caught up with Nathan Fillion at the ongoing San Diego Comic-Con 2018 event to discuss his recent Uncharted project. When asked if he has any idea about the constant fan-requests for him to play the DC hero, he replied that he is open to playing Booster Gold if the role is offered to him.
“I heard that. He’s a great character,” Fillion said. “Am I vying for the role? And do I want an internet thing to go crazy? No, I don’t want that to happen. Do I think it’s a great role? Yes. Would I do an amazing job… I like to think that I would… I like to think that I would. I like to think I would. He’s a great character. He’s such a dufus. I could do that.”
Now that Fillion has expressed his belief in himself to play Booster Gold, it might likely be that Warner Bros. will at least consider him for the role in their upcoming Booster Gold movie which is being produced and possibly directed by Greg Berlanti.
