Local theatre chain, GSC has confirmed that Disney’s live-action remake of Mulan will be released in Malaysian cinemas on the 4th of September. Taking to Facebook, GSC said, “YAS!! CONFIRMED: Disney’s #MULAN will be coming to GSC this 4 September!!”
This comes at the heels of the announcement made by Disney earlier this week, that Mulan will be released straight to Disney Plus in markets where the streaming platform is already available. Consumers in the United States and other territories will have to pay $US 29.99 to rent the movie — and this is on top of the streaming service’s monthly subscription fee of $US 6.99. Disney believes that this will be a great way to test just how much people are willing to fork out to watch a film that was made with the intention of a big-screen release.
Disney also confirmed that Mulan will still be released in cinemas in markets where Disney Plus isn’t available. It’s currently unclear when exactly Disney Plus will be hitting Malaysian shores, but the House of Mouse has announced that the service will be available in Indonesia come September 5th.
