I was wrong. Not only do I humbly apologise, but I also tip my nonexistent hat to the folks who have been pleading, crying and rallying for the Justice League Snyder Cut to be released. Look, I was one of the many reporters and journalists out there who believed that the “Snyder Cut” was some sort of conspiracy theory. The idea that a far superior version of 2017’s critically panned and financially underwhelming, Justice League, existed somewhere on a hidden magical island, seemed baffling to me. A version solely helmed by visionary director Zack Snyder. I mean, even IF the Snyder Cut existed, I never actually thought that it would see the light of day simply because it’s rather apparent that Warner Bros has moved on from the Zack Snyder era of the DCEU.
Of course, a different narrative started to form late last year when Zack Snyder himself, along with the Justice League ensemble (Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, etc), tweeted #ReleaseTheSnyderCut. But even then, THR reported the following: “Despite the groundswell and speculation that a [Justice League] Snyder Cut could go to Warner Bros.’ upcoming streaming service HBO Max, insiders tell The Hollywood Reporter no announcement of a release of any such cut is imminent.”
However, earlier today, during a Man of Steel watch party, director Zack Snyder confirmed that the Snyder Cut is indeed actually positively 1000000% happening. The film will be released on HBO’s new premium streaming platform, HBO Max (that is currently unavailable in Malaysia).

In a statement (via Collider), Zack Snyder thanked HBO Max, Warner Bros and the fans who have been championing the Snyder Cut since the very beginning.
“I want to thank HBO Max and Warner Brothers for this brave gesture of supporting artists and allowing their true visions to be realized. Also a special thank you to all of those involved in the ‘SnyderCut’ movement for making this a reality.”
Warner Media Entertainment and Direct-To-Consumer chairman, Robert Greenblatt said, “Since I got here 14 months ago, the chant to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut has been a daily drumbeat in our offices and inboxes. Well, the fans have asked, and we are thrilled to finally deliver. At the end of the day, it really is all about them and we are beyond excited to be able to release Zack’s ultimate vision for this film in 2021. This could never have happened if it weren’t for the hard work and combined efforts of the teams at HBO Max and Warner Bros. Pictures.”
Toby Emmerich, Warner Bros Pictures Group Chairman also commented on how excited he is for this project to finally come to fruition.
“Thanks to the efforts of a lot people, we’re excited to bring fans this highly anticipated version of Justice League. This feels like the right time to share Zack’s story, and HBO Max is the perfect platform for it. We’re glad the creative planets aligned, allowing us to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut.”
Zack Snyder’s Justice League cut is officially expected to hit HBO Max sometime in 2021. THR suggests that the Justice League Snyder Cut could actually be released as a six-episode series instead of a feature film that is reportedly more than 4 hours long.
