You Can Bet Your Ass There Will Be More Han Solo Films In The Future

We just wish they’re Lando films, instead.

It’s hard to see the iconic Han Solo being played by anyone except the equally iconic Harrison Ford. With the upcoming release of Solo: A Star Wars Story, it looks like fans would just have to roll with it. With the recent trailer for Solo dropping, Alden Ehrenreich seems to fit the bill but it seems that Lucasfilm has further plans for him in the Star Wars canon.

The star of Solo has confirmed that he has signed a three-film deal with Lucasfilm and although there are no reports of a sequel, it seems that a Solo trilogy is not off the table. In an interview with Esquire, Ehrenreich revealed how many films he was signed for:

“Three. I don’t know if that’s officially, uh, public. But—yeah.”

Ehrenreich’s words do not necessarily confirm sequels for Solo since multi-film contracts are standard practice for franchises. Whether or not, these sequels pan out is an entirely different story and various factors can attribute to this. The most obvious ones being the film’s performance at the box-office along with critical reception of the film.

Based on the information gathered, Solo seems to go the route of exploring Han’s turn from an idealist to a jaded cynic as seen in the original trilogy. It will also feature favorites like Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian who is played by Donald Glover (Childish Gambino if you follow his music career). Set several years prior to A New Hope, Ehrenreich has some serious shoes to fill following Ford’s portrayal as one of the greatest characters put to screen. So…no pressure.
