An Avengers: Infinity War quarantine watch party was held by ComicBook.com yesterday. And just like two years ago, fans are once again fighting with each other over Peter Quill AKA Star Lord’s actions on Planet Titan. As we know, The Avengers were on the verge of defeating Thanos on Titan — with Mantis doing her best to knock Thanos unconscious and the rest tugging at the Gauntlet — when Peter Quill went ape sh*t on the big purple guy, upon discovering news of Gamora’s death. Since the release of Infinity War, many fans have been pissed at Star-Lord, citing him as the reason for our heroes’ downfall.
During the quarantine watch party, fans took to Twitter to share their feelings on the matter.

While there is certainly truth to the argument, what’s great about the MCU movies, particularly the ones helmed by the Russo bros, are how they explore human psyche and emotions. Given the high levels of stress that the characters would’ve already been feeling while on Planet Titan, faith of the universe resting squarely on their shoulders, finding out that your girlfriend just died would be more than enough to make anyone act out in sheer rage.
And that’s exactly what Avengers: Infinity War co-writer Christopher Markus had to say as, well.
“I don’t think he screws [it up] — if you are standing in front of your girlfriend’s father and find out that he just killed your girlfriend, you’re gonna hit him in the face. I mean, there’s nothing that’s gonna stop you from hitting him in the face. I just think it’s totally emotionally understandable, particularly when you add in the scene where he was supposed to kill her. I mean, it’s a pretty big mindf—k to be in a situation where you failed — where your failure was failing to kill your girlfriend — which then made it possible for her father to kill her. And to succeed the right thing you should have done as a good person was to murder your girlfriend. He’s under a lot of stress at the moment.”
