The final trailer for the dowestillneedanotheroneofthese Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom trailer has dropped and it teases some very interesting plot details.
Unlike Jurassic World, this sequel doesn’t look to be a straightforward monster vs monster action movie, which is a good thing. While the trailer still highlights plenty of action sequences, it also teases us with horror elements that have been missing from this franchise since Steven Spielberg’s groundbreaking showcase in 1993.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is helmed by J.A. Bayona who isn’t new to the horror/thriller genre, having directed the awesome Spanish film The Orphanage. Besides horror, Bayona is also excellent at handling powerful emotional beats as evident from his work in the critically acclaimed A Monster Calls.
While this trailer doesn’t really scream “MUST WATCH” — none of the trailers for Fallen Kingdom have been — there are enough good moments in it to peak my interest. I’m more curious than excited. The official synopsis of Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom:
It’s been four years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles.
When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event. Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who’s still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission. Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is set to hit Malaysian cinemas on 7 June 2018.
