James Wan To Produce Milk For New Line

The short horror film has grabbed some serious attention at this year’s film festival circuit.

Following the success of The Nun, James Wan has already lined up his next project. A handful of horror hits started out as shorts, including Mama and Lights Out, and James Wan may have just found the next slice of horror gold in Santiago Menghini‘s Milk, a short film that’s being turned into a feature by New Line. Wan is on board to produce the adaptation.

Collider broke the news tonight, adding that Menghini will be directing the feature, with a script penned by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski. Milk will be a feature-length of adaptation of Santiago Menghini’s short film of the same name, which received praise at SXSW earlier this year and went on to win the Midnight Shorts Jury Award. Menghini will return to direct the feature, penned by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski, who previously wrote the horror film Stephanie, currently streaming on Netflix.

Wan previously produced Lights Out which was also based on a short and is attached to numerous other projects as producer including an Arachnophobia remake, a new adaptation of Stephen King’s The Tommyknockers and the DC Universe Swamp Thing series.

Milk follows a sheltered young teen who goes into the kitchen for a glass of milk late at night. Upon encountering his sleepless overbearing mother, he quickly realizes his reality isn’t what it seems.
