Life must be great if you’re Donald Glover right now. His latest hit single, “This Is America” recently hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts, his first single to ever top the charts. Then, there’s his show Atlanta, which just had its Season 2 finale. Oh, and he’ll hit the big screen as Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story. To add to this, Lando Calrissian will apparently be getting a Star Wars spinoff.
French publication Premiere interviewed Kathleen Kennedy, Lucasfilm’s President, about what’s next. She had this to say.
We think that the next spin-off will be dedicated to Lando Calrissian. Of course, there are still many stories to tell about Han and Chewbacca, but Lando will be next.
Fans have long been waiting for an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie, so there have been mixed reactions. Of course, her statement doesn’t rule out an Obi-Wan movie, it just implies it’s not next in line. However, considering the intense reaction to Glover’s portrayal of the suave, space-cape wearing galactic hustler, this piece of news isn’t particularly shocking.
Glover has been hotly tipped to be the breakout star of Solo once the general public gets a chance to see it. Starring Alden Ehrenreich as the young Han Solo, Donald as Lando, and Emilia Clarke, the new movie is already on track to make a massive splash in the box office.
Excitement for the film is growing, and fans will get to see Solo: A Star Wars Story in cinemas on May 24.
