Kevin Feige Has Plans To Introduce Muslim Superhero Ms. Marvel

This is friggin cool!

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has a solid track record so far and with the recent release of Black Panther, Marvel Studios is stepping in the right direction in regards to a more diverse array of superheroes. It’s going beyond that with the upcoming Captain Marvel which would be their first female-led film and it won’t stop there as Kevin Feige has plans for Kamala Khan to be introduced in the MCU.

Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel is a Pakistani American with shape-shifting abilities and is the first Muslim superhero to be introduced in the Marvel comics. Inspired by Captain Marvel, she takes on her moniker which leads to her own series in the comics.

In an interview with BBC, Kevin Feige spoke on the possibility of having Marvel’s Muslim hero on board for the MCU, indicating a strong chance of it happening sometime soon.

Chances of Kamala being introduced in Captain Marvel is relatively slim since it’s set in the 1990’s but a little cameo ala-Peter Parker in Iron-Man 2 (granted, this is more theoretical if anything else) or maybe something a little less subtle.

Marvel is definitely aiming to expand its filmography with a myriad of character traits and origins. This would also help Marvel reach a wider demographic, granted it’s demographic already is the whole world but it would definitely get some props in the liberal department. It’s a wonder how Marvel has not done this sooner, probably with Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow as her character would be able to lead a film of her own.

The DCEU is already ahead of them in that regard with probably their most critically acclaimed film, Wonder-Woman and they are definitely pulling the right strings with this female-led film. With this in mind, Marvel definitely has to deliver especially when their rival has provided us with perhaps, one of the best superhero films in recent memory and to top it all off-led by a female lead.
