Solo: A Star Wars Story On Route To Making More Money Than Black Panther

Great Kid, don’t get cocky.

Despite the initial skepticism surrounding Solo: A Star Wars Story, it seems that the film is looking to make a splash later this May as advanced tickets sales for Solo are among the highest of the year. Fandango has announced that the first 24 hours of pre-orders for the film were second to only Avengers: Infinity War even surpassing Black Panther.

The production of Solo was a tumultuous one due to its changing of directors and that in itself has raised doubts as to its quality. Alongside that, the first trailer that dropped did not help to alleviate this as fans would probably be unused to seeing the iconic character played by someone who isn’t Harrison Ford. From this, one can deduce that Solo would likely be Lucasfilm’s first real disappointment in a long time.

Due to a steady marketing campaign, that seems to not be the case as audiences are on board for the adventures of a younger Han. A Fandango survey polled among 1,000 film-goers has revealed that 85 percent of them considering Han Solo their favorite Star Wars character (not such a surprise, really). Aside from that, these youngsters portraying the young Han and Lando ( played by Donald Glover) are also fueling ticket sales as audience enthusiasm for the actors tallied to 76 percent and 73 percent respectively in the same survey.

The release of Phil Lord and Chris Miller may have raised some doubts but the hype for a new Star Wars film would be hard to ever fade. Han Solo is one of the greatest characters put on screen and it would be strange to think that people wouldn’t want to watch that even if it is played by a different actor. Honestly, even if it is bad, the train-wreck alone is something work discussing but we’ll have to wait later this month to find out.
