*Spoilers ahead for Avengers: Infinity War*
In the wake of Infinity War and Marvel’s Phase Three saga ending, change is definitely on the horizon for the MCU. But for all you Star-Fans out there, take heart for we are getting another Guardians of the Galaxy. It has been confirmed by lead actor Chris Pratt, that shooting will start in 2019 and James Gunn would return to direct.
The original Guardians film was a fresh of breath air for the Marvel Cinematic Universe with its approach that echoed the original Star Wars films and was a hit with both critics and fans. Not to mention, the killer soundtrack. The sequel may have received a somewhat mixed reception but it what still a box-office hit that was still a lot of fun in its own right.
Chris Pratt, who plays Star-Lord in the Marvel Cinematic Universe took to Instagram to wish his co-star Pom Klementieff (who plays Mantis) a happy birthday. In the caption, he wrote:
“Can’t wait to start shooting Guardians Vol. 3 with her next year!”
With the events of Infinity War, it’s a wonder how it’ll turn out since most of the characters from the Guardians team perished at the hands of Thanos. It’s pretty clear that these deaths aren’t permanent as Gunn has stated that the film would take place after Avengers 4 and that Pratt would likely be a part of it based on his post. Not much has been said about the story but one may wonder if it’ll tie into the post-credits scene in Vol.2 that hints at the emergence of Adam Warlock.
With the filming beginning in 2019, chances are we’ll see a 2020 release date for Vol.3. They’ve come this far, why stop now?
