The new trailer for Sony’s Venom movie is out, and it corrects the first trailer’s mistake by actually having Venom in it. The trailer is action heavy and heavily features Venom in it.
This trailer portrays a more of an anti-hero aura than a first trailer, which focused on Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy). “See, we didn’t forget to put Venom in the movie!” Sony Motion Pictures boss Tom Rothman said in addressing criticism toward that first trailer that tried to heighten anticipation by largely leaving out Venom.
Eddie Brock is an investigative journalist who goes up against Dr. Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed) and his harmful scientific experiments. When the mad scientist’s goons show up at Brock’s home when he falls ill, the dark anti-hero discovers his massive elastic, gooey power. In the last shot, we have a full reveal of Venom, teeth and all.
Venom isn’t directly connected with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so don’t expect Tom Holland’s Spider-Man to come swinging in to save the day, as this isn’t a joint production between the two studios like Spider-Man Homecoming was last year.
Venom is scheduled to release in theaters on October 4th, 2018.
